ASPIRIN.

I stress the great danger of Aspirin and all Aspirine type drugs, even Alka-Seltzer, in people liable to peptic ulcer. Every year, we see at least one case and sometimes two or three with quite severe haematemesis from this cause, often requiring transfusion. The risk is especially great in febrile states, influenja etc, ehere gastritis is already present, and Aspirin sets up acute ulcerations not demonstrable on x-rays but capable of causing even fatal haemorrhage.
